Content marking check · Reg. (EU) 2024/1689, Art. 50

Is your AI content marked for the EU AI Act?

From 2 August 2026, anyone who publishes AI-generated or manipulated media to people in the EU must mark it so it is machine-detectable as artificial. Drop a file — falsify / mark reads, in your browser, which layers of marking are actually present.

Runs entirely in your browser. The file is read locally to inspect its metadata; no image, score, or result is transmitted, stored, or logged. Closing the tab erases the session.

Reference date. Article 50 transparency obligations apply from 2 August 2026 (). A working aid, not legal advice.

What this tool does: it checks whether a file is labelled the way Article 50 requires. What it does not do: decide whether a file is AI in the first place. An AI image with no labelling and a genuine photo look identical here — so a low score is not an all-clear. To ask “is this real, AI, or edited?”, use falsify / detect →.

The four ways AI content can be marked

The rules expect more than one kind of label. Here's each one, and whether it's in your file:

If you publish it, the duty is yours

The law puts the labelling job on whoever publishes the content — not on the AI tool that made it. So if you or your clients post AI images, that's on you. falsify / mark can add all the labels for you, keep them from getting stripped, and give you a simple record you can show a client or a regulator. On its way — the full multi-layer audit and your 2 August reminder are headed to your inbox.
